JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK – Signs have been posted in a California national park to warn visitors about honeybees seeking water during the hot summer.

“For thirsty bees, the moisture from your sweat or from a car’s A/C system can be a tasty treat,” said officials with Joshua Tree National Park. “Luckily, honeybees aren’t aggressive. Their goal is not to sting you, but just to get your water.”

The National Park Service issued some safety tips as well, including:

🐝 Don’t swat! If bees are on or near you, calmly move away.
🐝 If bees are near your car, turn off the a/c and move out of the area.
🐝 Carry your meds! If you’re allergic to bees, be sure to keep your medications on you, and know what to do in case of an emergency.
🐝 Come again in the winter! Bees are less active in the cooler season.
