KATMAI NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE – The bears are coming back! The world famous Brooks Falls live cameras at Katmai National Park and Preserve are turning back on for the first time this season. Explore.org will flip the switch to see our favorite fat bears feasting at the falls starting on June 18, 2025 at 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET.
If you love the famous brown bears at the Alaska park as much as we do, you’ll want to tune in to the Explore.org live chat, which happens just one hour earlier on June 18 at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET.
The live cameras capture the incredible Alaskan spectacle of dozens of giant brown bears coming together at a waterfall to catch fish from the annual salmon run, as the bears bulk up for the winter.
Explore.org partners with the National Park Service every year for the “Fat Bear Week” contest where people can vote for the bulkiest bear. The fun competition also teaches us about the vital importance of protecting the environment and our ecosystem.
