YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – A big grizzly bear that had been killing and eating cattle on private land in Wyoming has been relocated to the Glade Creek drainage, which is about 2.5 miles south of Yellowstone National Park and either inside or in very close proximity to Grand Teton National Park. The exact location was not released.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reported that their crews captured the adult male grizzly on May 16. Officials say bears that are considered a threat to human safety are not relocated.
Wyoming’s wildlife experts made the move after consulting with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Grizzlies are protected by federal law, so strict rules have to be followed for a relocation.
