CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK – Congaree National Park’s famed Firefly Viewing Event is just around the corner!
The magical event will happen May 14-21 this year. That’s when the fireflies synchronize and light up the South Carolina night sky in a dazzling display.
“Visitors can experience an awe-inspiring display of synchronous flashing while the fireflies search for a mate,” writes the National Park Service.
The event has been growing in popularity, and you’ll need to apply for tickets via lottery. Signups start April 3 at 10 a.m. EDT. The lottery window closes April 9 at 10 a.m. EDT. You won’t be able to enter the park without a pass.
South Carolina’s Congaree National Park is one of the only places in the world where thousands of fireflies synchronize their flashing patterns in a spectacular show. It’s an amazing display that attracts many people to the park every year.
