Yosemite’s Seasonal Reservation Requirement Dropped Early

Must Read

Grand Teton is the Only National Park with a Commercial Airport

Fun fact: The Jackson Hole Airport in Grand Teton National Park is the only commercial airport located entirely inside a national park!

No RSVP required!

Yosemite National Park has ended its reservation requirement for the year earlier than expected. It had been set to be in place until Oct. 27.

“Based on our monitoring of visitor use patterns and impacts, we are ending a few weeks early,” said the National Park Service.

The California park has been coping with massive crowds and traffic jams during peak travel seasons by using the reservation system, but visitation numbers dropped off this fall. That means visitors no longer need a reservation in advance.

“We will automatically issue refunds to anyone who has a peak-hours reservation that was valid after October 13,” said the NPS.

Also worth noting, the Half Dome cables come down for the winter today (Oct. 16, 2024). The park recommends that no one attempt the route while the cables are down.
