CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK – A golf course in the middle of Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio has been purchased by the National Park Service for $3.1 million dollars. Work will soon start to remove some contaminated soil to begin native habitat restoration.
Eventually, the 198 additional acres will become a space where people can enjoy nature and access the Cuyahoga River. Details for the complete plan have not been released.
The former Brandywine Golf Course is already being reclaimed by Mother Nature. Many of the cart paths are eroding, the fairways and greens are overgrown and trees have fallen. The area is currently off limits.
The land was purchased by The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park in 2021. All along, the plan was to hand it over to the park. The group will keep 15 acres for Conservancy programming.
