GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK – Frost to the rescue! This “invasive species sniffing super doggo” is helping to track down harmful plants in Grand Teton National Park.
Frost is a trained in biosecurity, meaning he can sniff out invasive plants like the saltcedar shrub and perennial pepperweed. These plants have a nasty and aggressive habit of taking over riparian areas and are currently posing a threat along the Snake and Gros Ventre rivers.
But thanks to Frost’s powerful sense of smell, humans are able to remove those invasive species and restore the landscape to its natural state. Working Dogs for Conservation, Teton County Weed & Pest and Grand Teton National Park are hard at work protecting and preserving those areas for the native plants and animals in the Wyoming park.
