AVI KWA AME NATIONAL MONUMENT – A new national monument is planned for Nevada. The proposed “Avi Kwa Ame National Monument” would protect Spirit Mountain and the surrounding lands in the state’s extreme south, where Nevada narrows to a triangle.
The Mojave people and other tribes consider the region a sacred place where their ancestors originated.
At 700 square miles, it’s reported that this could be President Biden’s largest act of land conservation. The area is also home to desert tortoises, bighorn sheep, golden eagles and more wildlife.
