PETRIFIED FOREST NATIONAL PARK – A newly discovered reptile is named after Brad and Denise.
These fossils were found during a Girl Scout hike at Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park back in 2014. Now it’s become clear, they belong to a reptile that roamed the earth approximately 220 million years ago!
The new reptile has been named “Puercosuchus traverorum” after the nearby Puerco River and in honor of Brad and Denise Traver, the former PEFO Superintendent and his wife, who provided support to the paleontology program at Petrified Forest National Park.
