A New Way to Explore Fascinating National Park Service Artifacts is Unveiled

The Most Visited National Park was Dedicated 85 Years Ago

Today, it’s by far the most visited national park in the United States with more than 12 million visitors in 2024 alone.

HARPERS FERRY NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK – You can now check out incredible archives, art, artifacts, and other intriguing items inside the National Park Service History Collection, spanning over 100 years of NPS history. 

There are more than 80 objects in the tour from historic uniforms, to promotional posters, to park ranger badges, to a rifle used at Organ Pipe National Monument (which is now a national park), to the pen used by President Woodrow Wilson to sign the law establishing the NPS in 1916. 

You can read and learn more about each item when you click on it. It’s an amazing way to see the roots of the beloved NPS and to see what got them to where they are today. 

The actual physical site of the collection is located in Harpers Ferry Center at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in West Virginia.
