The Most Visited National Park was Dedicated 85 Years Ago

Today, it’s by far the most visited national park in the United States with more than 12 million visitors in 2024 alone.

KATMAI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE – Grazer – a back-to-back Fat Bear champion – has been spotted back at Brooks Camp in Katmai National Park and Preserve with her cub.

The brown mama bear is famous for being voted as the winner of the popular “Fat Bear Week” online competition for two years in a row. The Explore.org/National Park Service contest raises awareness of the bears and the salmon run that they rely upon in the Alaska wilderness.

Grazer is also famous for being a fearsome mother, and her cub seems to be doing quite well, judging by its roundness. Perhaps a future Fat Bear contender?

The video was captured by the talented wildlife photographer Katie Stolpestad, who goes by @katie.stolpestad on Instagram.
