How Voyageurs National Park Got its Name

The national park in a remote region of Minnesota is named after the travelers who explored the wild waterways of the area.

Two orphaned beavers, called “kits,” have been released back into the wilderness of Washington State. This heartwarming video shows one of the kits meeting its new foster family and being welcomed home.

The baby beavers were found on back-to-back days in May 2025 in the Arlington, Washington area, north of Seattle.

One kit was brought to the Sarvey Wildlife Care Center by a Tulalip Police officer. The next day, another kit was brought to the same facility.

After a health check-up, the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) released the kits back into the wild with a beaver family that lives in a nearby wetland. The kits were welcomed into the family, and everything has gone swimmingly! WDFW will continue to monitor all the beavers to make sure it continues to work out.
