An Alaska National Park is Home to North America’s Tallest Peak

At a height of 20,310 feet, Denali is the tallest mountain in North America and at the heart of Denali National Park and Preserve.

The entire length of the famous Blue Ridge Parkway is closed due to “catastrophic” damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Blue Ridge Parkway staff are assessing the situation along the scenic road, which links North Carolina and Virginia, with an additional 250 National Park Service personnel from 32 states and the District of Columbia involved in the recovery efforts.

“Based on what the teams have seen so far, significant, and in some cases catastrophic, damage has occurred along the parkway, particularly from milepost 280 to milepost 469,” said the National Park Service.

There is no reopening date yet for the road and no cost estimate for repairs.
