Cat Lost in Park Makes Remarkable 800-Mile Journey Home

Must Read

This is the Smallest National Park in the United States

At just 91 acres, this park is an urban oasis for people and animals passing through, including coyotes, opossums, peregrine falcons and more.

Movie material? Amazingly, a pet cat somehow survived an 800-mile journey home after getting lost in Yellowstone National Park.

The two-year-old cat, named Rayne Beau (pronounced “rainbow”), ran off into the woods at Fishing Bridge RV Park during a family trip to the park.

Benny and Susanne Anguiano, of Salinas, California, spent most of their vacation looking for him, spending hours searching in the woods. It was a devastating moment for them when they had to leave, with the sense that they were abandoning their beloved pet.

Three months later, out of the blue, the family received a call from the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, saying their cat had been found in Roseville, California! The shelter was able to track the owners down thanks to Rayne Beau’s microchip.

The Anguianos drove up to Roseville for a tearful reunion with Rayne Beau, who was a little worse for the wear. His paws were dried and cracked and he was malnourished, losing about half of his body weight.

It’s likely that no one will ever know how Rayne Beau survived his incredible journey home through some of America’s most rugged wilderness, but the family hopes this story may spark a memory for someone who saw him along the way, or possibly took him in for a while, to share.
