Well played, Mammoth Cave! The Kentucky national park is embracing some harsh reviews in the best way.
Mammoth Cave was ranked as the 3rd most disappointing tourist attraction in the U.S., according to a survey done by JeffBett. But the park is coming out on top with hilariously self-deprecating comments on Instagram, including:
“A world of regret awaits you at Mammoth Cave!”
“Come experience what has disappointed millions of people for over 225 years!”
“If you would like to experience the disappointment of Mammoth Cave, visit our website and choose from one of our many activities that will leave you unfulfilled!”
Mammoth’s comedic approach is paying dividends for public relations. Multiple news outlets, including Forbes, have picked up on their clever caption.
The survey ranks the five most disappointing U.S. tourist attractions as:
1. Kennedy Space Center
2. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
3. Mammoth Cave National Park
4. Biltmore
5. USS Arizona Memorial (also run by the National Park Service, but let us tell you from our first-hand account that this powerful location is anything but disappointing)
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the National Mall and the Golden Gate Bridge are among the least disappointing attractions, according to the survey. Both are also run by the NPS.
