EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK – Florida’s iconic national park is celebrating 75 years of preserving the unique landscape and wildlife of the exotic swamplands.
The park sees about 1 million visitors every year in its expansive 1,542,526 acres of land and water. It’s a critical habitat for many rare or endangered species including the manatee, American crocodile and the elusive Florida panther.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Everglades National Park will celebrate its 75th Anniversary with a rededication ceremony, live music, historic reenactors, and tours of its new facilities.
November through April is the dry season in the Everglades and the most popular time to visit. Parkgoers are drawn to lower temperatures at this time of year, which bring about two extra perks — more wildlife and perhaps even better, fewer mosquitos!
