The World’s Longest Known Cave System is in a U.S. National Park

Mammoth Cave is the longest known cave system in the world at 426 miles mapped.

ORGAN PIPE CACTUS NATIONAL MONUMENT – Don’t lick the toad! The National Park Service had to issue that warning recently because apparently, people are trying to get high by licking the Colorado River toad, also known as the Sonoran Desert toad, in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona.

The toxic secretions from this 7-inch toad reportedly trigger powerful hallucinations. In fact, the species is considered threatened in New Mexico because people are collecting it for drug use. But if you lick the toad, it can make you really sick.

“As we say with most things you come across in a national park, whether it be a banana slug, unfamiliar mushroom, or a large toad with glowing eyes in the dead of night, please refrain from licking,” NPS said on Facebook.
