DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE – Fun fact: Denali’s famous sled dogs can be adopted when they’re ready to retire! There are some key requirements, though, to make sure these hardworking pups get to enjoy their well-deserved golden years.

“Since these dogs have lived their entire lives here and on patrol with us, there are a number of important things we consider when selecting a retirement home for a dog,” says the National Park Service.

– They need a cool, northern environment. Florida won’t cut it. 

– They must remain active and outdoorsy because they’re retired but still need regular exercise. 

– The dogs must be paired with the right family, depending on whether they get along well with children or other dogs.
