EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK – A dead 13-foot long sawfish washed ashore in Everglades National Park, the fourth confirmed sawfish death this year alone.
Officials say people started to report fish spinning abnormally in the Florida Keys in the fall, with the first deaths observed in January. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the whirling and mortalities could be related, but it’s not confirmed. The FWC, the National Park Service, and NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service are working together to try to figure out what’s wrong.
