Recognize this stunning scene? Where is this?
In this extraordinary place, a pristine river winds its way through a lush valley. Here’s a hint: this wonderful spot can be found along one of the very few actual maintained trails in this park. Hikers are otherwise encouraged to set off on their own to explore this amazing landscape!
Final answer: if you guessed Denali National Park and Preserve, you are right! This is at the Savage River Loop Trail. It’s an easy to moderate hike that’s about two miles long.
“This loop travels along either side of Savage River as it carves a canyon between Mount Margaret, to the west, and Healy Ridge, to the east,” said the National Park Service. “The trail goes nearly 1 mile before crossing the river with a bridge, and returning to the same parking area.”
If you’re planning to visit, show up early to find parking because it’s very limited. Otherwise, plan to use the shuttle, which is really convenient.
