YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK – A large landslide has closed one of the main roads into Yosemite National Park.

Rocks, dirt and mud are covering SR-140 in an area where the road travels through a narrow canyon in a scenic stretch along the Merced River near El Portal. SR-140 is the route many people use to access Yosemite if they’re coming from the greater San Francisco/Bay area.

Caltrans, the California Dept. of Transportation, says there is no timeline to reopen the road but it’s expected to be a long-term extended closure.
