A young man fell 400 feet to his death in Grand Canyon National Park. 20-year-old Abel Joseph Mejia was by the edge of the rim near Pipe Creek Overlook when he fell, according to the National Park Service.

Mejia was visiting the Arizona park after traveling from his home in Hickory, North Carolina. The NPS is investigating the incident along with the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officials at the Grand Canyon urge everyone to stay safe by remaining at least six feet from the edge of the rim and staying behind all railings and fences at overlooks.
