ACADIA NATIONAL PARK – One of the country’s most-visited national parks is considering increasing its entrance fees.
The National Park Service wants to hike the cost for an annual pass from $55 to $70 at Maine’s Acadia National Park. The 7-day vehicle fee would go from $30 to $35. That’s in the same range as some of the most popular national parks like Yosemite and Yellowstone national parks.
Acadia has seen a huge increase in visitors in recent years, with 4 million visits in 2021. That’s half a million more than any year prior.
The last time Acadia raised its prices was in 2018. If approved, the increases would go into effect in 2023. NPS is accepting public comment on the proposal through Dec. 29.
