YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – The entrances at Yellowstone National Park are reopening after historic floods this summer washed out key roads. It took crews 4 months and nearly $50 million to make the necessary repairs to get the northeast entrance ready for access near Cooke City and Silver Gate.
The park’s north gate near Mammoth Hot Springs is set to reopen to vehicles on November 1st. The Park Service turned an old dirt stagecoach route into a two-lane road so visitors can access the park.
The North Entrance Road still needs to be fixed after entire sections of roadway were swept away. Repairs there could take years to complete.
